God Will Make a Way: Strength in the Struggle

Recently, during a work training, a friend turned to me with a big smile and said, “I am so proud of you.” She went on to remind me of everything that had unfolded while I worked toward finishing my degree: walking through a painful divorce, losing my home, grieving the tragic murder of my niece, and mourning the death of my mother.
As she spoke, I paused. I had been so focused on simply putting one foot in front of the other that I hadn’t stopped to consider the weight of what had happened. Hearing it out loud made me realize something I hadn’t fully acknowledged before: God made a way through every step of the journey.
I didn’t finish my degree because I was strong. I finished because God was faithful.
Isaiah 41:10 — The Light in the Storm

During those long nights of studying after difficult days, there was one verse that became my lifeline:
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. — Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
This verse isn’t a shallow promise or a motivational quote; it’s God Himself reminding us of who He is. When I thought I couldn’t go on, He whispered, “I will strengthen you.” When fear tried to overwhelm me, He said, “Do not fear, for I am with you.” When everything felt like it was slipping away, His hand held me steady.
Isaiah 41:10 is not about us mustering up the grit to endure. It is about God carrying us when our strength is gone.
The Weight of Life’s Trials
I would never have chosen the hardships I walked through in those years. Divorce left me feeling unworthy and uncertain about my future. Losing my home made me question stability and security. The sudden, violent loss of my niece shattered my heart. And the death of my mother left an ache I will carry for the rest of my days.
Each one of those experiences could have undone me. And truthfully, there were moments when I wanted to quit, moments when getting out of bed felt like too much. But God will carry you through even the valley of grief. He did for me, and He will for you.
Carrying You, One Step at a Time
Here’s the beautiful truth I learned: God rarely shows us the whole path in advance. Instead, He gives us enough strength for the next step. And then the next.
That’s what Isaiah 41:10 promises: strength for today, help in the moment, His upholding hand when ours are trembling.
Looking back, I see that every test I passed and every paper I turned in was not just an academic victory but a spiritual one. It was God’s sustaining grace at work.
And if He can carry me through the mess of brokenness, loss, and grief, He can carry you through whatever lies in front of you too.
God’s Presence Over Our Performance
One of the biggest lessons I had to learn is that perseverance is not about performance. It’s not about being the “strong one” or pretending everything is fine. It’s about leaning into God’s presence and letting Him be the source of strength.

Isaiah doesn’t tell us to “be strong” on our own. It tells us, “I will strengthen you.” The power isn’t in us—it’s in Him.
That truth frees us from shame when we feel weak. It frees us from striving. It frees us from the fear of failure. Because the One who carries us never fails.
When You Don’t Know What’s Next
Now that my degree is finished, I ask: What’s next? Honestly, I don’t have the full answer yet. But what I do know is this: God didn’t bring me this far to leave me now.
Maybe you’re standing at a crossroads too. Perhaps you’ve come through a hard season and are unsure what the next chapter will look like. Friend, remember this: God will carry you through not just the storm but into the future He has prepared for you.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God has plans to give us a hope and a future. While this verse was written to Israel during their exile in Babylon, the God who made that promise is the same God we serve today. His plans are still good, His purposes still stand, and His heart is still for His people. That gives me hope that even when I can’t see the whole picture, He is carrying me toward a future He has prepared.
Psalm 37:23 tells us that He orders the steps of the righteous. You don’t need to know every step. You just need to trust the One who does.

Encouragement for You
If you’re walking through a season where finishing feels impossible, whether it’s a degree, a health battle, a broken relationship, or simply getting through another day, I want you to know:
- You are not alone. God is with you.
- You don’t have to be strong. God will strengthen you.
- You don’t have to hold it all together. God will uphold you.
Isaiah 41:10 can be your lifeline too.
Living Faith Fearlessly
This is what it means to live faith fearlessly: not that we don’t feel fear, but that we trust God more than the fear. It means clinging to His Word when life unravels. It means holding fast to the truth that His hand is always steady, even when ours are trembling.
Living faith fearlessly doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built one surrendered step at a time, one act of trust, one whispered prayer of “help me, Lord.” And over time, you’ll look back and see a trail of faithfulness you couldn’t see in the moment.
God Will Carry You Through
Friend, whatever you are facing, remember this: the same God who carried me through heartbreak, loss, and uncertainty will carry you too. His promise in Isaiah 41:10 is for you today.
Do not fear. Do not be dismayed. Your God is with you. He will strengthen you. He will help you. He will uphold you with His righteous right hand.
One day, you’ll look back and see that you made it not because of your strength, but because He carried you every step of the way.
Pray With Me
Father, thank You for Your promise in Isaiah 41:10. You are my strength when I am weak, my help when I am overwhelmed, and my steady hand when life feels uncertain. Carry me through the trials I face today and remind me that I don’t have to walk this path alone. May my story be a testimony of Your faithfulness to others who are struggling. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
