Trusting God to Do A Lot in a Week
When the Same Trial Comes Around Again

When the Struggle Feels Familiar
Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “Didn’t I already go through this?”
I have, more times than I’d like to admit. Somehow, I end up facing the same struggles, uncertainty, and ache deep in my chest, and wondering why nothing seems to shift. Each time, I ask, “Lord, what am I missing? Why am I back here again?”
Sometimes I realize that while the situation looks the same, the lesson is a little deeper this time. God is refining something that still needs surrender. But other times, I sense the enemy at work; hitting the same pressure point, whispering the same lie, hoping I’ll believe it this time.
When the Enemy Knows Where to Aim
Satan is observant. He studies us. He knows where we tend to stumble, which memories sting, and which lies we’re most likely to believe. His attacks are strategic but not stronger than God’s promises.
That’s where Psalm 91 has become a lifeline for me:
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1–2)
This psalm isn’t a vague comfort; it’s a battle plan. It reminds me that God’s covering isn’t just spiritual poetry. It’s real protection for those who dwell in His presence. When fear, confusion, or weariness rise up again, I have to remind myself: this isn’t random. It’s war. And my refuge is not found in figuring everything out, it’s found in resting under His wings.
When You Don’t Know Which Step to Take
The last time I found myself in this place (unsure what to do next, uncertain where to go, unsure who I was becoming), I remember praying, “God, I don’t even know what step to take.”
And yet, within that same week, He began to move.
Doors opened. Clarity came. Strength I didn’t know I had began to rise.
It’s become a phrase I carry with me now: “God can do a lot in a week.”
Creation itself proves it: He built the world in seven days.
Jesus rewrote eternity’s story in one.
So why do I doubt what He can do with the next seven days of my life?
How to Get Through This: Walking Through Repeated Trials with Faith
If you’re stuck in a season with the same trial that keeps circling back, here are some faith-based steps that have helped me move through it rather than just sit in it.
1. Stay in the Word, Especially Psalm 91
Read Psalm 91 out loud every morning for a week.

Write out key phrases like “He is my refuge” and “no harm will overtake you” and keep them visible in your car, bathroom mirror, or journal. Let His Word set the tone before worry can take over.
2. Ask God What He’s Teaching You
Instead of asking “Why again?” ask “What now, Lord?”
Every trial has a lesson, even if it’s one you’ve partially learned before. Maybe He’s deepening your trust, softening your heart, or showing you how to let go of control.
Journal the patterns you see, how you respond, what triggers fear, and what strengthens faith. Seeing it in writing helps reveal what God is reshaping.
3. Guard the Gate of Your Mind
Satan whispers lies that sound like logic: “You’ll never change,” “This is hopeless,” “God must be disappointed in you.”
Combat every lie with Scripture. When he says, “You’re not protected,” answer back with Psalm 91:4:
“He will cover you with His feathers,
and under His wings you will find refuge.”
4. Seek Stillness Before You Seek Solutions
Spend intentional time in His presence: no music, no phone, no distractions.
Our instinct is to rush toward fixing things. But sometimes God’s direction only comes in the quiet. Even 10 minutes of silent prayer can realign your spirit. Let Him fight the battle before you map your next move.
5. Remember What He’s Done Before
Write down “God can do a lot in a week”.
List times when He surprised you, answered prayers, provided, or opened doors.
When you can’t see what God is doing, remember what He’s already done. Faith builds on remembrance. The more you rehearse His past faithfulness, the more you’ll trust His present plan.
6. Ask for Prayer Support
Share your struggle with a trusted friend or church prayer partner.
Don’t walk through repeat battles alone. Sometimes God’s voice comes through someone else’s encouragement.
When Waiting Becomes Worship
The repetition of certain trials can feel discouraging, but sometimes God allows the same kind of test to reveal a different part of His faithfulness. Maybe He’s showing me that I am growing, that I respond faster this time, trust sooner, or recover quicker.
Maybe He’s showing me that even when I still don’t have all the answers, He’s the same unshakable refuge He’s always been.
When I read Psalm 91 now, I picture myself literally stepping under His wings, letting Him cover me while the storm passes. That’s the lesson I think He keeps bringing me back to; not to fix everything, but to abide.
Pray With Me
Lord, You know how many times I’ve walked this road. You see the weariness in my heart and the fear in my steps. Remind me that Your protection is real, Your timing is perfect, and Your lessons are full of love. When I don’t know what to do next, help me dwell in Your presence and trust that You can do a lot in a week. Amen.

Closing Thought
Maybe you’re standing where I’ve stood, facing familiar fears, uncertain about the next step. Just remember this: what feels like the same trial might be God giving you a second chance to trust Him more deeply.
And even when you can’t see what He’s doing, He’s still working. Because truly, God can do a lot in a week.
